(Image source: go-explore-trans.org) Ahead of the holiday shopping season, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) in partnership with the US Postal Service will offer Sunday deliveries to Amazon prime customers in New York City and Los Angeles. However, in 2014, the plan will be available to prime customers in other major US cities such as Houston, Phoenix, Dallas, and New Orleans. If the plan succeeds, it could potential be a windfall for the struggling US Postal Service. The US Postal Service has been unable to compete with other major delivery companies. Amazon is putting a lot of confidence in the dysfunctional postal service; maybe the shipping prices offered by the US Postal Service were low compared to the rest of the other carriers.
