As the chart above shows, young people are faring worst in this economy. The labor participation rates for young people have not been at these levels since the late seventies. For example according to Haver Analytics, the participation rate for teens has falling 24 percent to a current rate of 34 percent. Teens are now competing with adults for jobs that were previously catered to teens.
